Pearl Jam (Part 1) Pearl Jam has been my favorite band for 24 years, I still remember those years, I remember buying a lot of Pearl Jam’s CDs & DVDs, I remember this Seattle Grunge Rock sound in the back of my skin. Truly one of the best achievements in music. If you’re not a Pearl Jam fan, I believe their music themselves will change your mind. Pearl Jam is an American rock band that formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1990. Since its inception, the bands line-up has included Stone Gossard (guitar), Jeff Ament (bass), Mike McCready (guitar), and Eddie Vedder (vocals). The bands fifth and current drummer is Matt Cameron, who has been with the band since 1998. Pearl Jam’s debut album “Ten” broke the band into the mainstream, and became one of the best selling alternative albums of the 1990s, being certified 13x Platinum. The band found itself amidst the sudden popularity and attention given to the Seattle music scene and the genre known as grunge. The single Jeremy received Grammy Award nominations for Best Rock Song and Best Hard Rock Performance in 1993. Pearl Jam received four awards at the 1993 MTV Video Music Awards for its music video for Jeremy, including Video of the Year and Best Group Video. “Ten” ranks number 207 on Rolling Stone magazines list of the 500 greatest albums of all time, and Jeremy was ranked number 11 on VH1s list of the 100 greatest songs of the 90s. To date, the band Pearl Jam has sold over 31.5 million records in the U.S, and an estimated 60 million worldwide. Pearl Jam has outlasted and outsold many of its contemporaries from the alternative rock breakthrough of the early 1990s, and is considered one of the most influential bands of the decade. The most popular American rock & roll band of the 90s. Love the band, Eddie Veddar is too good as are the rest of the guys.
