Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - Survey Surf Life Saving - TopicsExpress

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - Survey Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) is currently undertaking a project to identify suitable personal protective equipment (PPE) for surf life saving (SLS) members whilst they undertake core SLS activities (across Lifesaving, Sport and Junior Activities). The project group is currently conducting research on personal floatation devices (PFDs, including lifejackets and other floatation devices) and white water helmets. The aim of this study is to determine what SLSA members perceive to be barriers and facilitators to using PFDs and helmets during surf lifesaving aquatic activities. This survey will play a role in the development of future SLSA safety policies and practices. To assist us with making effective and evidence based decisions we would like your feedback on the following: Participation rates: how often are you participating in an SLS aquatic activity? Detailed injury data: what types of injuries, if any, have you sustained whilst in the water? Attitudes towards personal floatation devices and helmets: how do you feel about wearing PFDs and helmets? We encourage and welcome your thoughts on PPE and its application to Surf Life Saving aquatic activities. Please go to the link below to participate in a brief online survey; it should take approximately 20 minutes of your time. https://surveymonkey/s/SLSAsurvey The survey has been prepared by the University of Ballarat and the Centre for Healthy and Safe Sport. Please answer all questions as honestly as possible. Participation is voluntary and all responses are anonymous. The survey will close on Sunday the 16th June. Thank you for your participation, Greg Nance Acting CEO, SLSA
