Pete, I am well aware that you are not the Minister of Health but - TopicsExpress

Pete, I am well aware that you are not the Minister of Health but I have a story for you with a common thread to your area of expertise. Ill get there, Pete, bear with me. Its only fair, Pete I have had to bear you all summer. On one of the many occasions I found myself driving my husband to the hospital, I pulled the car right up to the emergency entrance rather than parking it. That is because by the time we got there, Pete it was apparent that what he was experiencing was a heart attack. I ran inside and grabbed a wheelchair, Pete but it quickly became clear that he couldnt transfer out of the car and into it. Im not a big person in a physical sense, Pete so I ran back into the hospital for assistance. You know what the admitting clerk told me, Pete. Bet you couldnt guess in a thousand years. She told me I would have to call an ambulance, Pete. About two dozen steps from help and I was supposed to call an ambulance. I know you are not directly responsible for hospital cutbacks, Pete but which would you think would be the most economical? How was I supposed to tell my husband nobody would come, Pete but that is exactly what I had to do. We gave it another try on our own but neither of us was strong enough. And then you know what happened, Pete? Soldiers, two of them saw us trying and they STEPPED UP, Pete! So here is the link, to your Ministry, Pete. When our teachers hearts were being attacked and they thought help would never come, guess what happened, Pete? Wrong, Pete, they didnt lay down and die because the soldiers came. First one and then another and they brought with them, through their letters, the breath of life, Pete, the breath of life it took to hold the line, Pete. Know what else, Pete? Now we are all soldiers. Now we all hold the line for Public Education. Now we are all breathing life!
