Philippines: Get Ready For War- Chinese Missiles Aimed At Manila . he Spratly Islands are a disputed group of more than 750 reefs, islets, atolls, cays and island in the South China Sea. The Philippines has been in conflict with China, as both countries claim ownership for the said group of islands. China claims both the Paracel Islands in the north and the Spratly Islands in the southern sector of the South China Sea. Chinese texts of the 12th century record these islands being a part of Chinese territory and that they had earlier (206 BC) been used as fishing grounds during the Han Dynasty. Further records show the islands as inhabited at various times in history by Chinese and Vietnamese fishermen, and during WWII by troops from French IndoChina and Japan. However, there were no large settlements on these islands until 1956, when Filipino adventurer Tomas Cloma, Sr. decided to “claim” a part of Spratly islands as his own, naming it the “Free Territory of Freedomland”.
