Please beware of knock-off buckles currently listed on Etsy being sold by MargotsChoice for hundreds of dollars. They have been reported by several folks to me and to Bears son and also to Etsy but still remain showing for sale on the Etsy site. The seller is calling them tribute buckles but they appear as if someone did an impression of Bears designs for his buckles on the front side then cast them. Bears actual designs clearly have a copyright shown on the reverse side. Currently they are listing GDs/stealies in bronze and silver and also a sun and a moon buckle in bronze. I sent a note to the seller suggesting that they discontinue selling them and received a nasty note in response that said that they designed them as a tribute. But, in fact, they did NOT design them. They directly copied the buckles that Bear worked on designing for many years. Calling them a tribute buckle doesnt make it OK to copy someone elses design! Also the patina isnt nearly as nice on these knock-offs.
