Potentially stupid question: Can someone explain to me, An 80 CuFt - TopicsExpress

Potentially stupid question: Can someone explain to me, An 80 CuFt holds 80 CuFt, so why when you do the metric coversion to figure out air use do you get 2265L. I have read to use 12L as conversion for a 80CuFt but why? Where does this number come from what am I missing? Granted all of the calcuations make more sense with 12 but where does it come from? Mass, some other form of volume, atmospheric volume as opposed to gauge? I am trying to figure out the differance in air consumption between my standard regulator and the FFM, but this is throwing my math off. Please help my tiny brain.
