President Idril Deby Itno in Cameroon for a working visit 22/05/2014 On the invitation of the President of the Republic Paul Biya, the President of the Republic of Chad, H.E. Idriss Deby Itno, comes to Cameroon this Thursday 22nd May 21o4 for a working and friendly visit. The visit is considered another unique occasion to reinforce cooperation ties between Yaoundé and N’Djamena in the areas of peace, cross-border security and economic development. President Idriss Deby Itno’s visit to Cameroon comes less than one week after the summit on security in Nigeria held in Paris. Speculations are rife that the present visit has been organized to fine-tune strategies to combat the Islamic sect, Boko Haram. Leaders of the two countries are also expected to discuss ways of dealing with the influx of arms and refugees. The visit scheduled this day, just before the CEMAC extra-ordinary summit to take place in Libreville Gabon tomorrow 23rd May 21o4 will be occasion for the two leaders to work out common ground on other pressing problems in the sub-region. Presidents Paul Biya and Idriss Deby Itno are expected discuss the crisis in the Central African Republic and Chad’s decision to withdraw its troops from the country in crisis. Economically, the construction of the Chad-Cameroon pipeline in 2oo3 and the current optic fiber interconnection from Cameroon to Chad are two important projects that have not only intensified bilateral cooperation but have also enhanced sub-regional integration, reasons why the two brotherly nations need to discuss on a regular basis.
