Press release from Newark Police: SUBJECT: NPD Investigates the Robbery of Mi Ranchito On Sunday, June 9th, 2013, at approximately 9:43 a.m., the Newark Police Department responded to Mi Ranchito (a food market located at 13 North Chapel Street) in regards to a robbery that just occurred. Officers learned that two suspects entered the store and, after one suspect displayed a handgun, ordered two employees and a customer to the rear of the store. The suspects then tied the hands of two of the victims behind their back, and demanded money from the third victim. After the suspects received an undisclosed amount of money, they tied the hands of the third victim and fled the store. An NCCPD K9 assisted in conducting a track for the suspects which yielded negative results. The victims were able to free themselves from their constraints. No surveillance footage is available at this time. Suspect #1 (unarmed): Black male, approximately 6’0” to 6’05”, thin to average build, approximately 40 years old, dark colored jeans, black baseball hat and sunglasses. Suspect #2 (armed with a handgun): Hispanic male, approximately 5’6” to 5’10”, approximately 30 years old, dark colored sweatshirt, dark colored jeans, and a black beanie hat. Victim #1: Customer, white male, 36 years old. Victim #2: Employee, Hispanic female, 15 years old Victim #3: Employee, Hispanic female, 40 years old.
