For full job description, go to uwjackson.org and click on “Job Opportunities.” Job Summary: The Prevention Manager is responsible to the JCSAPC for ensuring the outcomes of the JCSAPC are achieved. Accountable to: Community Solutions Director Date Updated: February 26, 2014 Major Duties: • Ensure the JCSAPC has a comprehensive strategy to address prevention needs in Jackson County through development of the yearly action plan • Supervise Coalition Associate and Drug Free Communities (DFC) Coordinator • Assist JCSAPC Chair in facilitating Coalition meetings • Assist substance abuse prevention services and collaborate with substance disorder services in Jackson County • Keep current on substance abuse integrated healthcare changes and Recovery Oriented Systems of Care • Facilitate data collection—methods, tools, and evaluation • Recommend effective services and delivery models to JCSAPC • Establish and maintain collaborations with agencies/recruit key community membership • Develop diverse funding sources • Write grants, apply for continuation funding, and provide grant reports to funders in a timely manner • Represent JCSAPC at Clinton, Eaton, Ingham Community Mental Health Coordinating Agency (CEI-CMH-CA) meetings and trainings MiTalent - Job Details • Produce official data reports to be utilized for decision making by the JCSAPC and support other County initiatives with related substance abuse/risk and protective factor data • Increase community awareness, marketing, and community outreach of the JCSAPC including public policy advocacy • Ensure compliance with CEI-CMH-CA, DFC, and United Way of Jackson County’s policies and directives • Increase knowledge in the community of outcome based prevention models • Integrate work within United Way structure as necessary • Other duties as assigned Qualifications: • Excellent organizational skills • Administrative experience • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including experience in public speaking) • Ability to think critically and multi task • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, experience in Dreamweaver or WordPress • Public relations and marketing experience • Experience in substance abuse prevention • Proficiency in social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) • Two years experience in the public sector or a service oriented agency and experience in community mobilization • Strong interpersonal skills, good problem solver, consensus builder, and decision maker • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with people of all economic levels, cultures, and capabilities • Supervisory experience preferred • Knowledge of Jackson County desirable • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance • Physical requirements may include bending, lifting up to 25 pounds and standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time • Successful completion of criminal background check MiTalent - Job Details Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration/Public Policy, Political Science, Communications, or Health services or other degree with relevant professional experience; Certified Prevention Specialist preferred (completion of CPS is required within two years of starting).
