Prospects of world revolution, increasingly organised resentful labour supported by an increasingly powerful Communist country.. all this forced the capitalists to give in. May be these entitlements can be considered as lollipops that sedated many but a genuine surge in living standards did occur. Those dismissing communist revolution in Russia as a mere bloody disaster must realise that its horrors served as a powerful driving force for positive social reforms in nearly all capitalist countries.
