Question Please: I believe in paying a fair price for services rendered. When my hot water tank ruptured in my attic last week, I called a plumber to come and cap my hot water line so I can still have cold water in the house as my tank and pipe was still leaking even after I turned it off at source. So that being said, I waited all day for a plumber and at 450 pm told me they could not make it. I quickly called a another local plumber, who told me he was on his way home and near by, and it was about 5 pm at this time. He told me it was now an emergency service call $236.00 To add insult to that , he spent 6 minutes in my attic and capped the line with a Shark bite pressure cap. he came down from the attic and charged me $425.00 I flipped. he said the service call was just to enter the house. Then $189.00 to fix it. He was in and out of my house in 25 minutes. I challenged him on this and he told me that he knew I had insurance and said he could charge more since I would be reimbursed. The truth is, repairing the tank, or source of leak is NOT covered. I am curious of your thoughts. I am willing to share the name privately but not publicly. I am curious from you, my friends about your thoughts on this in my opinion very high charge.
