Question : What is liberation? Shri Shri Thakur : Liberation does not mean annihilation – rather it is penetration of complexes. As much a person has been able to penetrate the complexes, so much will he be fit for every serviceable position to the environment. Also the more the environment gets attached to such a person with penetrated complex, the more the complexes of the environment get adjusted, attain contentment – therefore, surrender to Him makes a man great, admirable, knowledgeable and loving. So, herein lies the significance of liberation, i.e. the environment cannot disunite and break us in its own way. Such a man, in spite of serving everyone, remains intact with His individual characteristics. Just like the way crystals of sugar candy crystallise around a thread, the environment too remain crystallised around Him— as if, encompassing everything, one single person. Consequently, man finds the awakening of godhood in Him, and He is called God. That is why perhaps, the Vaishnavites say— God alone is the Man, everything else is Prakriti (primordial female energy). Question : In that case man becomes God. But can man ever be God? Shri Shri Thakur : Godliness is present in all those things that constitute godhood — wherever that may exist— within a form or without— embodied or disembodied. If sweetness indicates sugar, then anything sweet must be having sugar— whatever that may be. [Ref: Nana Prasange Vol.1, Ninth Edition, Dec-2001, Page 39-40]
