RAIN & VEGETATION (Status Update of Chapter “RAIN & VEGETATION” – Thursday, 31st Oct 2013) Rain & Vegetation Water is vital for the survival of life. During ancient times it was believed that rainwater gushed out from a river in Heaven. Quran disapproved it. Rain water are the very tiny droplets of microscopic size which too light to fall down on earth. So they ride on the air waves until they condense and then fall down as rain. “It is Allah who sends the winds that raise the clouds and spread them along the sky as He Wills, and then break them into fragments until you see rain drops come forth from their midst. Then He has made them fall on whom of His slaves as He Wills. Lo they rejoice.” Quran 30 : 48. “See you not Allah drives the clouds gently, then joins them together, then makes them into a heap of layers, and you see the rain comes forth from between them. And He sends down from the sky Hail like mountains (masses of clouds) and strikes therewith whom He wills and averts it from whom He Wills. The vivid flash of its lightning nearly blinds the sight”. Quran 24 : 43 Meteorology is concerned only with observations of monsoon’s moods. The rainfalls are forecast on the basis of clouds gathered and the directions of the winds. It is absolutely foolish to think that man holds control on clouds and their movements. It is Allah who sends the wind to drive the clouds of rain and strikes rain where He wills and avoids the places where He does not. “Then tell Me about the water that you drink. Do you bring it down or do We? Were it Our will, We could make it salt. Then why do you not give thanks? Quran 56 : 68 - 70 It is Allah who has provided us fruits & vegetation of every kind. It is the wind that fertilizes them and the rain that irrigates them in full submissions to Allah’s commandments. Numerous kinds of fruits and vegetables grow on the earth but no two of them are in equal quantity. They are produced in proportionate measure. Some of them stem from the same root and are watered with the same water yet they are different in taste. Allah provides us so much to live a happy life on the earth and we take food out of that provision to scarify our so called gods. Are we not creating rivals to one who is feeding us and rebelling to one who is caring us? “And it is He Who spread out the earth and placed thereon mountains standing firm and rivers and fruits of every kind He made in pairs two & two. Quran 13 : 3 “And the earth We have spread out, and have placed therein firm mountains, and caused to grow therein all kinds of things in due proportion. And We have provided therein means of living, for you and for those you provide not. And there is not a thing, but with Us are the stores thereof. And We send it not down except in a known measure. And We send the winds fertilizing, then cause the water descend from the sky, and We give it to you to drink. And it is not you who are the owners of its stores. Quran 15 : 19 - 22 “And if Allah were to enlarge the provision for His slaves, they would surely rebel in the earth. So He sends down in measure as He wills. Verily, He is well aware of the nature of His slaves.” Quran 42 : 27 “It is Allah Who sends down rain from the skies and with it brings out fruits wherewith to feed you. ………Then tell Me about the seed that sow in the ground. Is it you that make it grow or that We grow it? Were it Our will, We could crumble it to dry powder, and you would be left in wonderment.” Quran 56 : 63 _ 65 There is no moving creature on the earth but its provision is with (due, depends on) Allah. He knows its time & place of its definite abode and its temporary deposit; all is in a Clear book (record).” Quran 11 : 6 There are millions of creatures on the earth other than human beings. We humans cannot and do not provide them. It is not our responsibility either. Allah provides even for a black ant on a black rock crawling in the darkness of midnight. “The right (hand) of Allah is full, and is not affected by the continuous spending night & day. Do you see what He has spent since He has created the heavens & the earth? Yet all that has not decreased what is in His right hand. His throne is over the water and His other hand is the Power to bring about death, and He raises some people and brings others down.” Abu Hurairah - Sahih Al Bukhari 9 - 315 Once Prophet Moses was asked to pick up a rock and hit it against the ground. When it was broken Moosa found that there was a tiny worm with a fresh, green leaf in its mouth. Allah said to Moses, We provide sustenance to all Our creatures irrespective of their places of stay. “And verily, in the cattle, there is a lesson for you. We give you a drink of that which is in their bellies, from between excretion & blood, pure milk, palatable to the drinkers.” Quran 16 : 66 Apart from various other provisions, Allah created cattle for you who provide you milk, and carry your load to distant place where it would have been difficult for you to carry. The milk from the bellies of the animal comes between excretion and blood. He created things which man has no knowledge of. He sends down water for you from the sky out of which you drink and grow vegetation for yourselves and for your cattle. These are the signs for you to understand that Allah cares for you and takes notice of all your needs. And whatever He has created on the earth of varying colors (botanical life) and from animals (zoological life), is a sign for us to understand. And He has subjected the sea out of which you get delicious fish to eat, beautiful ornaments to wear and plough ships through in order for you to seek His bounty. If you count the favours of Allah, never would you be able to count them. “And your Lord inspired the bee to take its habitation in the mountains, and in the trees, and in what they erect. Then eat of all fruits and follow the ways of your Lord made easy. There comes forth from their bellies a drink of varying colors wherein is healing for people. In this indeed, there is a sign for people who contemplate.” Quran 16 : 68-69 A bee taps 2 million flowers and flies 80 thousand kms to make 450 grams of honey. The science was able to discover it only a few hundred years ago that the honey comes from the belly of the bee. The honey has healing effects and also rich in vitamins. Flower nectar and pollen are the two main sources from bee. Most of the world crops depend on pollination by bees. Unfortunately, there has been an alarming drop in bee population. Disappearance of bees is posing a direct threat to the survival of thousands of plants used for food, fibers & medicines. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals and therefore no more man. “The One Who produces for you, fire out of a green tree, when behold you kindle therewith. Is not He Who created the heavens & the earth, able to create the like of them? Yes, indeed He is the All-Knowing Supreme Creator. ” Quran 36 : 80- 81. “Then tell Me about the fire that you kindle. Is it you who made of the tree thereof to grow or do We grow it? Then glorify the name of your Lord, the Most Great.” Quran 56 : 71 - 72 “And among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and in the variation in your languages and colors. Verily; in that are Signs for those who know.” Quran 30 : 22 We conclude that Allah is Merciful and Generous to mankind. He creates and then takes full care of His creation. He set the earth in order, made it well balanced and blessed it with all the bounties. But man is ungrateful and unheeded towards nature. His ego & selfishness has almost ruined the planet. Million tons of industrial dust falls yearly on every town in the world. In the US alone more than 80% fresh waters are polluted by industrial waste. Chimney stacks and vehicles emit over 200 million tons of noxious matters a year into atmosphere. Power stations release tons of sulphur gas & cinders in the air. Global warming and deadly diseases are the ultimate results. Man has thus smothered atmosphere in the name of progress. Islam encourages its followers to be more considerate towards nature. Planting a tree is considered a continuous charity in Islam, as desirable deed for which the planter is rewarded for as long as the tree benefits any form of creation. Trees and mangroves were not destroyed even during wars. Prophet Mohammed (sas) advised his followers that one has sapling in his hand he should plant it first even if the Day of Judgment should arrive. “If any one plants a tree, patiently protects it and looks after it until it bears fruit, Allah the Mighty & Glorious will count a charity for him anything for which its fruits are used.” Ahmed “When a Muslim plants a plant or cultivates a crop, no bird or human being eats from it without it being accounted for as a charity for him.” Sahih Al Bukhari “When a Muslim plants a plant, anything eaten of it or stolen from it until the Day of Resurrection, is accounted a charity for him.” Muslim Excerpts from the ISLAMIC book “MAN – A Wonderful Creation” compiled by >>>> Hasan Khan Deshmukh >>>> books.feedback@gmail >>>>> +91 9769709144
