RAKITICS BECOME FIFTH MAN FROM SEVILA - TopicsExpress

RAKITICS BECOME FIFTH MAN FROM SEVILA Ivan Rakiticis set to become the fifth man to join Barcelona from Sevilla in the last six years. Whats more, the Azulgranas have forked out a kings ransom to bring in four of these players, who were bargain signings by the Andalusian clubs renowned sporting director, Monchi. In all, including the Rakitic deal, Barcelona will have handed over some €85 million in transfer fees and add-ons to the Seville outfit. Dani Alves was the first to make the switch, back in 2008. Then Barça chairman Joan Laporta shelled out €36 million for the Brazilian, a fee that caused quite a stir considering he is a full-back. However, after six highly successful years in the Catalan capital, there can be no question the investment was worth it. The same can be said of Seydou Keita and Adriano, who cost €14m and €13.5m respectively. Rodri, meanwhile, came much cheaper, at €1.5m, but has barely been seen at the Camp Nou since. Now it remains to be seen how Rakitic performs once he seals his move, which will set the Azulgranas back almost €20m. The Croat is billed as a replacement for Cesc Fàbregas, who has left his boyhood club for London again, this time to join Chelsea
