RE: DISCIPLINE vs. CHILD ABUSE [Post #1] Im not trying to offend anyone, and I know that everyone has varying opinions on what constitutes abuse vs. discipline, but I am so tired of hearing GROWN folks say its okay to beat kids with brooms, purses, switches, bats, mop handles, extensions cords, pistols, or whatever else they can get their hands simply because thats what was done to them when they were growing up. While everyone is entitled to their own opinions and decisions, Im sorry to say that this is the most ridiculous reason I have ever heard in my life. I thought grown men and women were supposed to make decisions based on their own independent, intelligent thought processes... not based on This was done to me, so I should do it to someone else.
