ROLFC 21 Day Fast - Final Day : Day 21 TREASURE #21- As a child of God, I have been given: A Testimony to Share with the World… “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.” –1 Peter 3:15 Thought: Back when I was in kindergarten, my teacher would invite one person each week to stand in front of the class to show and tell about something that was special to him. I had been waiting for weeks to show what was so special to me, until finally, it was my turn. I still remember that morning, waking up early to prepare for my show and tell. After all, my big brown teddy bear, which was so special to me, was going to outdo every other person who had gone up before me. It is still clear in my mind, the feelings of excitement I had to show off my furry friend. “Mom, I need a big plastic bag to keep Teddy in!” I searched underneath the sink where the plastic bags were kept, and found one that was big enough for him to fit in. Carefully, I began to lower Teddy into the bag, when tragically I noticed a small tear in his lower back. I was crushed when I saw that the styrofoam filling was leaking out, and slowly starting to deflate his once plump body. “Oh no! Mom, what am I going to do?” My mom looked at him and assessed that it was a slow leak, and he would be able to make it to school in decent shape. She reassured me that everything was going to be okay, and that she would stitch him up when I got back home from school. I arrived at school, sat at my desk, and waited for the class to settle in. Soon as the roll call was done, my teacher called out my name to present my ‘show and tell’. I discreetly checked inside the bag to ensure Teddy was still in there, but to my demise, I noticed that his whole body had deflated, and all the styrofoam filling was rolling around inside the bag. It was too late. I had no choice. It was now or never. I stood up, took the bag with me and stood in front of the class and timidly began to speak, “Hi everyone. My name is Randy. And I want to introduce my special friend, Teddy. He’s shy, so I’m just going to show you his head.” I slowly pulled him out, but did not show below his neckline. The kids enjoyed hearing all my adventures with him, and how special my experience with Teddy had been. They did not realize that day that he had a major flaw. All they could see was how excited I was to share my friend with them, and they were so blessed to meet him. When I look back at that day, and how excited I was to share about my teddy bear, I’m reminded about our privilege to show and tell about our relationship with Jesus, and the testimony of our new life in Him. Unlike my friend’s imperfection, Christ is in every way perfect. We, who are imperfect, have something wonderful to share with the world. And that is, Christ our Lord and Savior has chosen to save us from the life we once had, and place us into a new life in Him. That new life of godliness begins to strengthen and transform us into the new creation we are called to be. Godliness invites others to ask why we have so much hope, and they are encouraged to see the dramatic change in your life. The Apostle Peter tells us to not shy away from such opportunities, but to BE READY to give the reason for the hope that you have. People will not always admit it, but they are searching for that which can fill the void in their lives. Every person has a God box that only God can fill. They are never satisfied when they search for a substitute to fill it. So go ahead, make it happen, and tell the world the one and only living God who can fill their void! You have a testimony share! Prayer Focus: Pray for the church to be ready and mobilized. Pray for our city. That God would soften the hearts of those who are lost, and that He would use the church to powerfully witness the message of the gospel. Ask God to put someone on your heart, that you can pray for, and when the time is right, you would have the courage to share Christ with him or her.
