((RP rewind. This is supposed to have taken place in Summer 2012. Co-wrote this with my sister. - Titan Main)) The sun hung low in the sky. The shadows stretched over the ground, gradually enveloping the areas of dim orange light. Robin and Starfire sat together on a bench on the boardwalk, the beach behind them, a pleasant breeze lightly blowing their hair. Drinks in hand, they sat there contently, watching the other people as they passed. A man walking his dog, two boys riding by on their skateboards, and several other people traveling the boarded pathway and stopping at the windows of food places and popcorn stands. Starfire sighed happily, another breeze coming through and softly blowing the skirt of her pink sun dress. Robin looked around, taking in the sights, sounds, and smells as he sat there dressed in his own casual jeans and t-shirt. “Nice evening to be out,” he said with a smile, his arm resting along Starfire’s shoulders. Starfire stared thoughtfully. “It feels very….freeing….to no longer feel the void and the heavy sadness. I am very glad that Beast Boy has returned.” Robin nodded. “It’s good to have everyone back together again. The way it should be.” Starfire nodded back at him. “He and Raven are happy….I feel the happiness for them.” She paused for a moment, thinking, a pleased smile coming over her face. “And for us…” she said, leaning her head against Robin’s shoulder. Robin smiled at her and kissed her head. Starfire sighed again. “It /is/ the very nice evening….to be out together….to not be fighting or pursuing the bad people…..I wish more days could be like this.” “I know,” said Robin, somewhat guiltily, as he wrapped his arm around her. “I guess we probably don’t do this enough. It /is/ good to get out….just the two of us…get some fresh air…” “And to keep you from thinking about the plotting and wrong-doing,” Starfire put in. Robin glanced at her. “I’m not thinking about anything like that,” he defended. Starfire lifted her head up and looked at him with suspicious, narrow eyes. “You are not thinking about stopping the villains and the evil plans?” Robin smirked at her. “Furthest thing from my mind.” Starfire’s eyes narrowed even more. “What /are/ you thinking about then?” Robin shrugged with a small smile. “I’m just….thinking about right now….and maybe about later.” Starfire broke into a grin and giggled at him. “Then it is working,” she said gleefully. Robin grinned back at her as both of them leaned in for a kiss. Suddenly the two of them exclaimed in surprise as a bright purple-colored starbolt shot out of nowhere and hit Starfire’s drink, the force of it knocking both hers and Robin’s out of their hands and all over their clothes. With wide eyes, Starfire looked down at her dress, the length of it covered in soda and mustard. Getting up furiously, she balled her fists, steaming, as she let out a slew of presumably Tamaranean swear words. Robin gaped at her as a figure and familiar voice came forward from about ten feet in front of them. “Sorry to kill the romance, sweeties, but I’ve never been a big fan of sappy love scenes.” Starfire looked up and glared at her, her expression livid. “BLACKFIRE. YOU…YOU…” she stammered, pointing a shaking finger in her rage. “Aw, did I ruin the Kodak moment?,” said Blackfire, pretending to pout. Starfire continued to fume. “You have interrupted our date AND you have ruined my dress!” “I’ve done a lot more than that lately, Starry Dear,” Blackfire antagonized her. “In fact, you /could/ say that I’m on a /special/, top secret mission as we speak.” She waved her hand nonchalantly. “But I can’t go into detail about all that. You understand.” “I do not know what you speak of,” Starfire seethed, “But whatever trouble you have planned, I will not let you succeed!” “Still so naïve, little sister,” Blackfire pressed on. “You’d think after all these years of our little fights, throwing me in jail, and banishing me from our home planet, you’d finally learn that I /can’t/ be stopped.” Her voice became even more tyrannical and her eyes lit up with malice . “You may have won a couple battles, but you still haven’t won the /war/.” Starfire gritted her teeth, her brows furrowing crossly. “We shall see about THAT!” she shouted with her own eyes lighting up, shooting a large green starbolt at her. Blackfire quickly moved up and evaded it, the starbolt shooting past and hitting a popcorn stand as the vendor dove out of the way. Popcorn flew everywhere, scattering across the boardwalk. Starfire vengefully took after Blackfire, who flew away opposite of the beach and headed back toward the city’s center. “Starfire!” Robin called after her, then tore past the alarmed onlookers, chasing after her and Blackfire. He followed them from below as the two sisters moved further into the city, hurling starbolts at each other. Grabbing his grappling hook from his utility belt, Robin shot up at one of the buildings and launched himself across an alleyway and over a fence, landing on the sidewalk on the other side. With an exhale of frustration, he watched helplessly as Starfire and Blackfire flew higher into the sky. “Looks like I made it just in time for the show.” Robin turned around. Red X was seated in the bench behind him, his arms outstretched along the back in a relaxed pose. “X! What are you doing here?!” demanded Robin. “Chill out, kid, I was just in the neighborhood. Can’t a guy take a break and hang around for a while?” He then lazily motioned with his hand and gestured at Starfire. “And I’d say your girlfriend looks like a much bigger threat to the city than me right now.” Robin scowled at him. “You picked a bad time for a social hour.” He then jumped slightly at the sound of something loud popping behind him. A streetlight had been struck by a starbolt and exploded. The two girls suddenly crossed in front of Robin and Red X, exchanging blows, oblivious to their audience. “Nice dress by the way,” Blackfire sneered mockingly, throwing another pinkish-purple bolt at Starfire. “Where’d you get it, Airheads ‘R’ Us?” Starfire’s anger boiled over. “I got this on sale from the mall of shopping for your information!” she shouted, returning the attack. Red X came over to stand next to Robin, his eyes and Robin’s mask widening as they both stared at the scene before them incredulously. Still battling it out, the girls took back to the sky. “Who’s the brunette?” asked Red X, his eyes following her. “Blackfire. Starfire’s older sister.” Red X watched her with interest. “Sisters, huh? Maybe you and I should double date sometime.” Robin crossed his arms. “I don’t think so, X. Starfire and her sister are complete opposites. Blackfire is nothing like her. She’s just another selfish criminal.” He then looked back toward him insultingly. “So on second thought, yeah, she’s just your type.” “Guess that must mean she knows how to have a good time.” Red X replied casually. “Too bad some other people around here can’t take a little harmless fun.” Robin clenched his jaw. “I don’t need to hear another one of your philosophies on the insignificance of petty crime, X. Are you going to help me break these two up or what?” Red X crossed his arms and looked back at him smugly. “What’s in it for me?” They then both looked as a billboard came crashing down to the street. Robin turned back to Red X, narrowing his mask at him. “A city still left standing.” Red X narrowed his eyes back at him. Robin then took off, heading for Starfire. Red X ran toward the direction of Blackfire, scanning his surroundings to make a plan. He then narrowed his eyes at a building under construction that she was nearing. Immediately he made a go for it. With superior speed and agility, he easily scaled the building in a matter of seconds, climbing and leaping up the framework, then jumping onto the tower crane. Once on top, he watched Blackfire for a moment as she drew closer unsuspectingly. Then with a burst of speed, Red X jumped off the beam of the crane and shot one of his Constrictive Restraint X’s at her, the X expanding in the air and then closing around her, binding her arms to her sides. Before she even knew what was happening, Blackfire began to drop from the sky. Red X caught her as she fell, and landed back on the ground with her smoothly, where he quickly set her down and turned her away from him. “Can’t have those pretty eyes looking my way,” he said, hiding a pleased smile behind his mask and holding onto the back of the Restraint X so she couldn’t face him. “I know what they can do.” “What is this---?! Release me!” Blackfire spat out angrily, struggling to get free of her bindings. “Ah, ah, ah,” Red X teased. “You didn’t say the magic word.” Blackfire turned her head toward her shoulder, her eyes cast down and her tone sardonic. “And who are you, another caped crusader?” Red X laughed. “If you’re accusing me of being a hero, you’ve got it all wrong, Cupcake.” “Could’ve fooled me,” she retorted, still fighting against her restraints. “If you aren’t one of them, why would you be helping them?” “Just stopping you before you reach my territory,” he said playfully, readjusting his grip on her. “Can’t have you moving in on the block I’ve been casing out.” “Hah. That scared by a female are you? You’re even more like Robin than I thought.” Red X narrowed his eyes, speaking in a condescending tone. “You don‘t scare me, /Sweetheart/. I just don’t share.” “Neither do I. /Sweetheart/” she snarled through gritted teeth as she brought up one of her knees and rammed her foot back into his shin. Red X let out a grunt of pain, but held onto her. “Guess that makes us rivals,” he said, smirking behind his mask in his amusement. “That’s usually how it goes with good guys and bad guys,” she replied in a sarcastic, lazy drawl, rolling her eyes. Red X smirked again, responding slyly. “I’m not that kind of good guy.” “And I’m still not convinced,” Blackfire continued in her bored, satirical fashion. Red X glanced ahead and saw Robin and Starfire coming toward them, then turned back to Blackfire, pulling out his X-Wristblade. “If I was really one of the good guys, would I do /this/?” With one swift swipe of his wristblade he sliced the back of her restraint, setting her free. Blackfire instantly flew forward and spun around to face her captor. Red X stared at her. “Shame we didn’t hit it off.” he said, retracting his wristblade. “We could’ve caused a lot of trouble together.” She smirked back at him darkly, her eyes lighting up with that same purplish glow. “I can cause more trouble than you ever could all by myself,” she answered, suddenly bringing up her hands, and with an aggressive yell, sent a surge of magenta-colored starbolts at him. Blackfire smiled with satisfaction as he exclaimed in surprise and was knocked backwards off his feet to the ground. Rising into the air, she hovered over him tauntingly. “Maybe I’ll call when I’m looking for a knight in shining armor,“ she sneered down at him. She then crossed one arm under her chest and rested her other elbow on it casually. “Don’t hold your breath though, I’m a pretty busy gal.” “Later, Prince Charming,” she added, blowing him a kiss, before flying off and disappearing into the darkening night sky. Red X narrowed his eyes as he watched her fly away. “X!” Robin shouted, running up to him angrily. “You let her go!” Red X turned to him and Starfire. “Sorry, kiddos,” he said, getting up and throwing an Explosive X at the ground in front of them. “Date’s over.” Robin and Starfire stopped and braced themselves, Robin bringing up his cape and shielding the two of them as the sidewalk exploded and scattered debris. As the smoke cleared, Robin lowered his cape, clenching his teeth as he looked around. Red X was no where to be seen. Robin glared, then turned back to Starfire. **************** [Starfire (Teen Titans) Red X (Teen Titans) Robin (Teen Titans)]
