Really looking forward to this Thursday nights concert in Adelaide Town Hall with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, where Ill be singing three exquisite songs for soprano and orchestra by Osvaldo Golijov. As far as Im aware this is the Australian premiere of the full orchestral version of these magnificent songs (I heard the radiant Dawn Upshaw present a chamber version of a couple of them with the ACO a few years back, and Ive done two with string quartet before, but all three with full orchestra is an Australian first apparently!). Other items on the program are a sensational work by Graeme Koehne and a new multi-media work by fantastic young Australian composer Natalie Williams, commissioned by the SA state government as an homage to my dear old grandpa, who held music as a very great passion in life. aso.au/products/classical/our-don
