Adams announced that he will serve as Grand Marshal in the Brooklyn Three Kings Day Parade, held on Sunday, January 11th. The parade, which has been staged annually since 1997, will travel down Graham Avenue in Williamsburg, also known as the Avenue of Puerto Rico, from Meeker Avenue to Woodhull Hospital. Festivities are scheduled to take place between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM, and the parade’s ribbon cutting will take place at 2:00 PM at the intersection of Graham Avenue and Meeker Avenue. Borough President Adams will march alongside the board of the Brooklyn Three Kings Parade, including its founder, Radames Millan, as well as Maribel Torres-Hulla, who is being recognized for her contributions to local education as principal of PS/IS 157 The Benjamin Franklin Health & Science Academy. Also marching will be camels and costumed kings, in tradition of the Three Kings’ biblical story, as well as public school students from School Districts 14 and 32; at the conclusion of the parade, children will be treated to pizza inside PS 257 John F. Hylan, as well as toys at All Saints Church. I am honored to be chosen as the Grand Marshal of this year’s Brooklyn Three Kings Day Parade, an important and joyous celebration in much of our borough, including our Latino communities,” said Borough President Adams. “I look forward to sharing this special tradition with the children and families of Williamsburg, along with the many who come from far and near to take part in these festivities. ¡Feliz Día de los Tres Reyes Magos, Brooklyn!” This year’s parade has been dedicated to fallen NYPD Detective Rafael Ramos, who will be honored with a moment of silence at approximately 3:30 PM while the bells of local churches ring; additionally, the Ramos family will be saluted at the end of the parade by members of the New York City Police Department. “I am deeply appreciative that this year’s Brooklyn Three Kings Day Parade will honor the memory of NYPD Detective Ramos, as we look to turn our pain over his loss into purpose for a brighter and safer tomorrow,” said Borough President Adams. “The commemoration of his service to our borough and our city will help to heal our community, and I hope all can be present to share in this tribute.” -30- CONTACT: Stefan Ringel Communications Director Office of Brooklyn Borough President Eric L.
