Roadrunners Lose In Walk Off Fashion ALEXANDRIA, Louisiana — The Edinburg Roadrunners dropped the series opener against the Alexandria Aces by a score of 6-5 in walk off fashion on Thursday night at Bringhurst Field. Edinburg (19-22) got the scoring started in the second inning when Tylor Prudhomme hit a sacrifice fly that allowed Ryde Rodriguez to make it a 1-0 game. Then after a single by Carlton Salters and a walk by Jordan Etier, centerfielder Tim Maitland hit a two-run single to extend lead to 3-0. An error and a wild pitch allowed Maitland to score to make it 4-0 in favor of the Roadrunners. The Aces (22-19) responded with a pair of runs in the fifth inning when Austin Newell drove in Nick Mahin and an error allowed Josh Band to score to trim the lead to 4-2. The Roadrunners scored a run in the seventh inning when Maitland reached on a hit by pitch and moved over to second base on a throwing error. Then he stole third base and Dan Coury hit a sacrifice fly which increased the lead to 5-2. Alexandria tied the game at five in the seventh inning when on a series of errors which allowed the tying run to score. After a scoreless eighth inning, the Aces scored with one out had Chad Bunting and Travis Clark on base which allowed Brandon Spencer to drive in Bunting from second to win the game in walk off fashion. Michael Calderon (2-0) earned the win for the Aces throwing a scoreless inning, while Damian Seguen (2-1) took the loss for the Roadrunners throwing an inning and two-thirds. The Roadrunners will play game two of the four game series against the Aces on Friday night at Bringhurst Field with the first pitch at 7:05 pm. The next Roadrunners home game will be on Tuesday, July 9th, when they host the McAllen Thunder for a four game series.
