SECURITY OBSERVATION IN OUR CAMPUSES!!! I was in ABU Zaria this morning when an incident took place that attracts my attention, which summarily means that security in our campuses is too fragile and vulnerable. Perhaps, it could be one of the reasons of recent attacks in our institutions. I approached the main gate Samaru where security agents stopped one Toyota Sienna and not allow the driver access into the campus because its tinted glass.The driver dressed in Army camourlage (wether real or fake soldier) parked and pick out AK 47 loaded with double 30 rounds magazine and took Okada into the campus. I quickly park and draw their attention that by mere dressing in Army uniform doesnt mean that the person is REAL NIGERIA ARMY especially now that we have security challenges. I challenged them why they should allow him in to the campus with loaded riffle without proper identification. Besides, hes not their for official assignment. I called the Chief Security Officer (CSO) and complained to him. OBSERVATION!! Most of the Security Personnel in our campuses are not well trained in the functional needs of an academic institution. I do not expect them to undergo rigorous training like the Army or Police, but atleast they should have skills needed so as not to endanger our younger ones and our esteemed and respected academicians. SECURITY IS EVERY BODYS BUSINESS. May Almighty grant us everlasting peace in this country, Ameen!!!
