STAFF SPOTLIGHT-Laura Thomas Senior Admissions Representative Hometown: Rochester, MN What is something unique about you? I am named after the author Laura Ingalls Wilder. My middle name is Rose and that is the same name as Laura’s daughter. What is your favorite food? Does Caribou count as a food? What is something you are passionate about? I am very passionate about animals. I wish I could adopt all the homeless dogs and cats. If I won the lottery I would have a big ranch with an adoption center Who is your hero and why? My mom. She is a 25 year cancer survivor. She also fights diabetes on a daily basis. Through all the challenges that life has thrown at her she remains positive. Who is your favorite Actor(s)? Kevin Costner, Ryan Reynolds, Matt Damon and George Clooney. Favorite activity outside of work? I love working out. I currently am in the Farell’s Extreme Fitness Program. I work out six times a week. What is a phobia of mine? I am deathly afraid of pool drains. My brother used to tease me and tell me if I came close to a drain it would pull me in. It has just stuck with me all these years, I guess. Favorite quote? It’s not whether you get knocked down, it’s whether you get up-Vince Lombardi Why do you enjoy working at MSB/Rochester? I enjoy working with the students and helping them to make a positive change that can impact their entire life. Is a very rewarding experience to see students achieve their goal of graduation. Below Laura is with her sisters dog Koda. Although he is not her dog he is her buddy and can often be seen on the MSB Parade float or in pictures all over her office. Someday Laura will have a corgi of her own and would like to have Amy Doherty train him/her.
