STATE TRIAL INFORMATION: Dear Player Invitation to trial for State Programs 2014 – Expressions of Interest (EOI) Due to discontinuation of VCL this season FFV would like advise of the process for State Steam selection for the 2014 season. All outdoor registered players identified below are eligible to trial for selection and should register their Expression of Interest by completing the Jotform at the link provided. Who is eligible? - U13 Girls Metro - 2001 and 2002 born players only - U14 Boys Metro - 2000 born players only - U14/15 Girls State – 1999 and 2000 - NTC Boys – 1999 Born players (Please note U13 Girls Country, U13 Boys Country and U14 Boys Country will be trialed at a later date and those eligible players will be notified once details have been confirmed) As we are looking for players eligible for state representation the standard expected is naturally very high. Only players who have played the majority of the season in the highest grade at their club will be eligible. Therefore, if a player is playing 14C grade but the club have teams in 14A and 14B, that player will not be eligible to trial. We are also looking for resilient players who can commit to 4/5 coach contacts a week and have the drive, commitment and ability to reach the highest levels of the game. Players will be selected from these squads to represent Victoria at National tournaments during 2014. How will it work? Complete the EOI form here (enter Jotform). Make sure you enter in all details fully and honestly. Please note: FFV reserves the right to limit the numbers invited to trial and therefore your EOI to trial may not result in an offer to trial for your age group. We require players who are playing at the highest Grade team within their clubs. For example: If a player is playing 14C grade but the club have teams in 14A and 14B, that player will not be eligible to trial. Checks will be made once submissions have been made Phase 1 Wednesday 25th September at Knox Open to all players born between 1999-2002. Please fill in an expression of interest trial form found here. This will be open for metro based players in the below teams only: - U13 Girls Metro - 2001 and 2002 born players only - U14 Boys Metro - 2000 born players only - U14/15 Girls State – 1999 and 2000 - U15 Boys – 1999 Born players (National Training Centre squad) Phase 2 Week commencing the 14th October at DISC All successful players from Phase 1 as well as 2013 State Development Program (SDP) players. Therefore players within SDP squads for this season will not be required to register for Phase 1. Those players will receive an invitation into Phase 2 at a later date Phase 3 Week commencing the 21st October at DISC Final squads will be chosen for the 2014 season What are the selectors looking for? Attributes that the selection panel will look for (but not limited to) - Running with the ball - Striking the ball - First touch - 1 v 1 (attack and defence) Due to large numbers of players we expect will trial at Phase 1 we will not be able to provide feedback to those who do not receive an invitation for Phase 2. If you are unsuccessful the reason would be that you were not of the required level in one or more of the above attributes Other prerequisites for a talented player: - Coordination and speed - Game ‘cleverness’ : making the right decisions ‘intuitively’ - Eagerness to learn and be coachable - Perseverance Selection Criteria: - potential of the player in the selection panel’s discretion, to perform well at higher levels - potential of the player, in the selection panel’s discretion, to play in A League or above; - ability of the player to perform football skills to a high level; - adequate fitness and athleticism of the player, - potential to be socially compatible and display a sense of “team ethic” within the squad/team - receptiveness to coaching; - commitment by the player to the representative or program requirements - evidence of a positive attitude to training and commitment to becoming an elite football player; - evidence of a desire to succeed in both football and personal development.
