SWEET GENEALOGICAL BREAKTHROUGH: I often heard from my Switzer grandparents that we are related the the Hershey family of chocolate fame. I just confirmed it working with Ancestry We share a common ancestor, Christian Hershey (Hirschi) from Bern Canton, Switzerland. He is the 5th Great Grandfather of Milton Hershey, who founded the candy company, the city of Hershey PA, a major orphanage and several charities. Christian also was the 7th Great Grandfather of me, all my siblings and cousins, not by direct descent, but through intermarriage of Hershey and Long ancestors....all Pennsylvania Dutch from Lancaster County. Technically Milton was 3rd Grandson of the wife of our 6th Great Uncle.....and that will not get you even a miniature Hershey bar except on Halloween.
