Sarah writes a song straight from the heart Sarah Geronimo is into so many things – singing, hosting, acting, endorsing, voice coaching (for “The Voice Philippines”). Now, after a little self-prodding, Sarah has finally tried her hand at songwriting. Sarah describes her composition, “Make Me Yours,” as a religious song she hopes can inspire not just her beloved Popsters, but everyone as well. “It took courage para maisulat ko yon,” she told reporters in an interview after the presscon for KakaoTalk, the local mobile messaging application she is endorsing. The song is Sarah, raw and stripped of all useless (emotional) baggage. “Para akong naghubad. Ang sarap na pakiramdam na I was able to share it with people.” The song, a cut from Sarah’s latest album “Expressions” also happens to be a dream come true for the newbie songwriter who has always dreamed of making a Christian album. Although Sarah has yet to fulfill that dream, she has started somewhere by enlisting veteran musician Louie Ocampo’s help in providing the melody that gave the singer-actress’ lyrics more meaning. Ironically, Sarah is sending a Paris-based sister money to finish her studies when she (Sarah) herself can only dream of earning a college diploma. A teary-eyed Sarah admits she wants to be in her sister’s shoes someday. “Gustong gustong gusto ko, kung pahihintulutan ng schedule ko. If I take a break, hindi ko alam kung months o taon at kung may babalikan pa ako kung taon ito.” So she’s thinking long and hard about returning to formal school, preferably abroad. Sarah has two options. Since she is a singer, Sarah says she can take up music production to improve her craft. Maybe this can also help her fulfill her dream of being able to play a musical instrument someday. Option two is a non-music related course. “Fallback ito kasi hindi forever ang career sa showbiz.” While she’s still dreaming of school, Sarah is fast absorbing things through another form of education – the one she is getting as “The Voice Ph” coach. Competition among coaches Sarah is learning a lot from her fellow coaches, especially Lea Salonga. “Gustong gusto kong binabara niya ako. Masarap din palang binabara ka ng tao. Nao-obliga akong magsalita at maging opinionated. Magandag learning experience.” Part of the learning experience, she adds is becoming braver in facing the effects of your decision on others. It also comes from facing competition that naturally crops up among herself, Lea and fellow coaches, Bamboo and apl.de.ap. “Pinaglalabanan kung anong team manggagaling ang winner ng The Voice Ph.” On Matteo Guidicelli Sarah is not that vocal when it comes to fellow Kapamilya Matteo Guidicelli, the latest to be linked to her. But her eyes, threatening to well up in tears, say it all. Something is bothering Sarah. “Okay lang, hanggang don na lang. Kung ano man ang sasabihin ko ayaw ko na magsalita. Gusto kong maging truthful sa inyo the best way I can. Gusto kong manahimik muna.” Sarah would rather talk to friends via group chat and express herself through ‘emoticons’ (an icon that conveys various emotions like happiness, sadness, etc.) through KakaoTalk. “KakaoTalk is part of my life. With my busy schedule, it helps me connect with friends and family from all over the world. It has free text and call features.” She even has her favorite character, Frodo, the snubby dog. Her fellow endorsers, Alden Richards and Louise delos Reyes, agree... (c) mine
