Saturday, July 13, 2013 Psalm 63:1 (NKJV) O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. When do you seek God? There used to be an oil commercial that stated; Pay me now or pay me later. What it meant was that you could take preventive measures and change the oil in your car on a regular basis or end up having your engine rebuilt later. There is another saying; If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it. Our Christian walk is the same. When all is well, we don’t seek God. It is when things fall apart that we go to God to fix it. The wise decision would be to seek God early, before trouble starts, not after we are already neck deep in trouble. Preventive maintenance, fixing the problem before the problem presents itself. Came across this quote this morning; "What you allow, is what will continue." I guess the opposite also holds true; What you do not allow, is what will cease to continue. If you allow sin, even the most innocent of sin (if there is such a thing) to continue in your life, it will continue and it will grow. This thought just struck me. When we first moved to Arizona we discovered “scorpions.” We were told that nothing kills scorpions, the best way to get rid of them is to kill off their food source, starve them to death. You cannot rid yourself of sin, but you can rid yourself of it’s food source. Seek God and you will rid yourself of sin’s food source. Seek God early, before it is too late, before you stand before Him and are found condemned to hell. We are given a second chance while we are still on earth, there are no second chances once we leave this place. You can prevent a blown engine by maintenance, but once it blows, it is blown and there is no going back. Altar Call: Today: is the day of your salvation. Today: is the day to make yourself right with God. Today: if you have heard God’s voice, do not harden your heart against Him. Today: give yourself totally over to God and walk in His ways. Response: Heavenly Father, have mercy on me, a sinner. Please, Lord Jesus, forgive me and come into my heart as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank You that You love me so much that You died for me on the cross of Mount Calvary so long ago. I give you my life and ask you to take full control of my life, so that my life may be pleasing to You, from this moment on. Teach me Your Word (the Bible), fill me with the Holy Spirit, so that I can defeat the enemy’s attempt to sway me away from You. I accept You as my Lord and Savior and will strive to obey Your commands and live my life as You have exemplified in Your Word (the Bible). I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen!
