Scenes from the Airport: Scene 4, Rental Car Center - Today while I was playing, a tall gentleman in a cap that said Marine passed by many times, and eventually sat down nearby for the last half hour of my performance. I asked if he had any requests or favorite kinds of music, and he said he was French and could I play any music from France? So I started with the wonderful I Will Wait for You from The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and he sang along in French - tres cool! These songs sound so much better in French! I followed that with several other French and Italian songs including La Mer, La Vie en Rose, and Arrivaderci Roma among others. Its all such fantastic music, and the gentleman, who said his name was Marco, thoroughly enjoyed our little European musical excursion - as did I!
