Job Description Title: Associate Scientist II/Scientist I (Formulation Sciences) Location: Cambridge, UK As part of Bio Pharmaceutical Development, the Formulation Sciences group is crucial in linking development projects to clinical studies. The diversity of our biologics pipeline presents challenges for protein, antibody and peptide formulation. Key responsibilities The Associate Scientist II/Scientist I position is a hands-on, laboratory based position. The successful candidate will be a strong bench scientist with good understanding of the principles, theories and concepts of protein chemistry/biochemistry. As an Associate Scientist II/Scientist I in Formulation Sciences, you will be working independently and/or in collaboration with others, and perform formulation development activities for protein therapeutics, including product characterisation and stability studies. You will be responsible for designing and executing experiments to support pre-formulation, formulation screening, biophysical characterisation, container closure compatibility, lyophilization and fill-finish studies. Part of your role will be to write protocols, analyze data, interpret and summarise results in reports. You will also be responsible for presenting your findings in internal/external scientific meetings. In addition, you are expected to prioritize your work appropriately, adapt to changing priorities and work with often-challenging timelines and contribute actively to one or more project teams. Position Requirements • Understanding of protein formulation development and characterisation principles is essential. • Experience with some or all of the following techniques is required; DSC, SEC-HPLC, SDS-PAGE/BioA, capillary IEF, HIAC/MFI, DLS. • Experience within a biopharmaceutical setting and protein formulation development is desirable. Education Minimum of BSc Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutics, Biochemical Engineering or related field Additional Notes Good communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to thrive in an interdisciplinary fast-paced environment are integral. Experience working with proteins, protein fusions and antibody conjugates would be advantageous.
