Several questions to students should, I think, be posed. Why were the founders, who were mostly quite wealthy, in the days of no insurance, so willing to risk their property in a war that common sense predicted was a lost cause, and their fine homes would likely be burned to the ground and their possessions looted? Why were they so willing to sign a document that would lead to them being immediately hung when captured by the British, who were by far the superior force in America? Why did the Continental Congress observe a day of fasting and prayer, before the hostilities started. Why does the left claim the Constitution is a pro-slavery document, while Frederick Douglass (a man who understood slavery better than any person alive today) said it wasnt? Where is it in the Constitution states that a black man is 3/5 of a person? How did America become the greatest country on earth in less than 200 years; something no other country in the planets history ever came close to? Its all important; I dont think theres any one thing that overshadows everything else. It was a miracle, when taken in its entirety. (by Steve Pender)
