Sharm El-Sheikh , Egypt ,December 22 (QNA) - HE the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al Khulaifi affirmed that GCC states as usual spare no effort in order to enhance and develop cooperation and Arab joint social work . As they attached great attention to integration and cooperation, within available resources and existing coordination frameworks , he added, while wishing more interaction and cooperation among them in social development fields a matter which would meet aspirations of the Arab peoples. Speaking at the 34th session of the Council of Arab Social Affairs Ministers , currently underway in Egypts city of Sharm El-Sheikh, Al Khulaifi explained that the session represents an important addition to the ongoing efforts of the council and its member states in order to improve social situation and conditions in regard to contents of its agenda, stressing that it came to meet Arab societies needs which related to development process, programs and mechanisms to activate its strategy. He expressed confidence that the debate and interventions will enrich these important issues and will lead to wise decisions that contribute to resolving such issues. He pointed to the topics on the agenda of the current session, especially the topics of the first item and assistance for people of the Gaza Strip and items on preparing ordinary Arab summit and Arab economic and social development summit in addition to items on improving standards of living in various dimensions and strengthening empowerment paths in development that are based on a new strategy in the fight against poverty in Arab countries. The Minister of Labour praised trends of the council to develop its work of the council and its executive bureau and finding mechanisms capable to providing procedural and organizational flexibility to face challenges and changes that occur in the Arab arena. He also pointed to item regarding the situation , problems and challenges facing persons with disabilities and their right to safe life, health as a human right, hoping that the next session to focus on disability and equal opportunities in life and work for persons with disabilities.
