Should children suffering unbearable pain have the right to ask to end their lives? Im James Menendez and on Newshour at 13 and 14G well be reporting on the proposed law in Belgium that would legalise euthanasia for children. Under the law, parents would still have to give their consent, and doctors would have to assess that a child was aware of the consequences of making such a request. In which case, why shouldnt a child whos terminally ill be able to ask to die? Is it a parents duty to help their child stay alive at any cost? And at what age might a child be mature enough to make such a decision?
