Source of Article Rodney Times, 02 August 2007; p.11 Description A service commemorating three people who drowned in the Waiwera River in 1869 brought the Orewa to Puhoi motorway work to a halt on Thursday, July 25. The service was held by Puhoi-Warkworth parish priest Sean OConnor and members of the local iwi. Project director Andrew McRae says it was important to recognise the history of the land. Members of the Titford family whose ancestor was among those first buried at the site and local residents also attended.
