So I just received an interesting PM and I thought I would address it publicly so you cakies can have an opinion on the matter too! The message reads as follows:- Hi Kyla, I just wanted to say firstly I think your cakes are amazing BUT I was wondering why you always give away your offcuts, dont you feel like you are selling yourself short by giving away your product for free? Im an up and coming cake artist and I was always taught that if you give something away for nothing, you are in fact saying you dont have much faith in your own product. Im not trying to be rude, I was just wondering why you do it and did you ever look at it from that view point. Thanks Ok so my response is simple cakies - I give it away because I can! But on a more serious note FB only allows people to view my creations, not taste them! A BIG part of my the experience that I endeavour to deliver to my customers is to make something that tastes as good as it looks, and I can assure you that most of my customers say just that! As I have said many times, I am completely self taught with no formal training and my recipes are NOT packet mixes like some people use, they are recipes that I have perfected over the years and I am very proud of them so I want as many people to enjoy them as possible! If I can spread some joy and happiness and brighten someones day with some offcuts then believe me I will! Everyone has different views on what you should and shouldnt do as a business owner but in this case I care more about spreading joy and cake than selling myself short. So in summary, I can appreciate not everyone does what I do, but its what I choose to do and I will continue to give away offcuts, cupcakes and cakes simply because I enjoy the feeling that giving gives me. P.S Thank you to everyone who has ever won offcuts and enjoyed them :)
