So I turned 56 yesterday and had a quiet uneventful day (by choice) at one point the demon DOUBT crept into my thoughts... “What the hell are you doing still involved in creating/recording new music at your age?” … “Its near impossible to make a living from music these days.” … “Nobody wants to pay for recorded music any more. Even if they dont download illegal free copies, you cant pay rent with a few dollars a month from streaming royalties”... Even though theres some disturbing home truths in these thoughts the negativity lasted a few minutes and then I looked around my living room. I have a big screen TV that gets used more as a monitor for music production or to watch Music DVDs than it does for watching TV. Its flanked by one of the best set of speakers on the planet, I designed and built them and they carry the family name as a proud brand. Behind me it a shelf unit full of vinyl albums and to my right theres another full of CDs (I custom built the shelf units to the perfect dimensions). To my left is my high quality Thorens turntable that I physically modified to reduce internal and transmitted acoustic resonances. In one corner sits various high quality recording toys and microphones, so who am I kidding I listen to music because it makes me feel good. I make music because it makes me feel good and creative inspiration is an unstoppable force, either you go with it enjoy the process or you die trying to fight it. Theres nothing that will stop me creating and recording music (short of death or going going deaf)... I woke up this morning energized and feeling very positive because for me ... MUSIC IS LIFE! ... The rest is just noise and distractions. So let me sign off by posted a this link to the first song in my conscious memory that ignited the fire for me... https://youtube/watch?v=QOZ17BWje1Y
