So, what do I do with the page now? This page always been devoted to tracking one Lady and always had an intended ending point. There were some occasions where tracking her did her good and made her journey easier, and others which devolved into, as some have aptly described it, a freak show. The history of her journey is true American and Appalachian lore. However, I do not want her tracked all over Winchester if she does stay (spotted her at the Post Office! Look! Shes photobombing me, LOLZ!) and as for the chance that shell hit the trail again--Im willing to let the big new Facebook site do the constant photojournalism on that trip and every other. Any trip after this one unless its on a plane to Alabama would be more tragic than heroic. She is limping gratefully toward police cars now each night because her feet are killing her. Shes 56 years old. There are medical repercussions now--what would her doctor at the VA hospital think Is best? Would she or he advise continued tracking if it will cause her to be mobbed? I did a lot of hard (really fun) work mapping her travels. Someone will steal it for the other site the second its posted. Thats okay too. Let the Lady have the ultimate credit. I intend to: Finish the photo album Put up the complete log of her known travels in June and July Disable the comments, and if that proves impossible, delete the page altogether. Her other Facebook site, which gained 40000 followers in two weeks, is called Where is the Mysterious Woman in Black? Search in Facebook or Google and it will pop up. Last night I went to bed thinking that all my faith in humanity that I had when she was in Ohio had evaporated, now that she was in Virginia. Maybe I was naive and it was my fault (one sixth my fault, with a FB page six times this size out there.) But then I thought about the Winchester police, and all they did all night for a sad wayfaring soldier and are still doing today to make sure she was and is protected. And how amazing their statement is that she will be part of this community. That she would lay down her crocs and bags in Winchester was my hope two months ago. She told police in Tennessee she had loved ones in Winchester. By the time she got there she had made it true. And I know she has more family up there, related or not, who want her to rest and get well, who can see past the religious ravings--than just in the police department.
