Some experience today, im still in shock! Its the kind of thing id see a clip on and think to myself how much these incidents occur in reality.Well my question was answered today. I was sitting on the train and leisurely reading a newspaper you have to be aware and stay informed about the world you live in - in dads words. I guess i didnt notice someone staring at me. All of a sudden this man says something to everyone like listen guys.... to grab our attentions and then he points at me and almost pokes me subhanAllah. He then said in a very very loud im yelling at you voice, why are you wearing what youre wearing? I am deeply offended by this, everyone dont you agree? Would you look at how she is dressed. Alhamdulillah for the newspaper, I tried to use it as a distraction so he knows im clearly ignoring him. I told myself i will not let this man get the better of me. This man looked in his 50s or 60s - looked caucasian and then he kept yelling and asking everyone to join him in questioning me. I still ignore. remained silent. How should one reply someone barking? Before I know it, this other man standing next to one of the train poles got really angry at him (non-muslim - looked caucasian too) and yelled back at this man shouting. He began to say whats your problem, do you want us to sort this out? why would you question her? How is she disturbing you? As if this made matters worse, this man turns away from me and starts having a go at the other man, tells him they should get off at the next stop and fix things up. Then the man next to him pulls him back and tells him to sit down! He tries to explain to him that the way he asked his question was very very rude and he might have gotten an answer if he asked politely. Then he replies saying im asking her again, why is she wearing this etc... next thing almost everyone on the carriage got really angry and started yelling at him for his aggressiveness. Then this woman (looked caucasian too) about to get off says angrily to him how dare you!!! who do you think you are, screamed at him and walked off Then everyone turns against him. my reaction? Still silent. I did not have to say a word. Allah used other people in my defence. Then the woman next to me (african looking) looked at him with disgust and he tries to have a go at her saying whats your face like that for? (lol) She got really angry and said her mind disapproving of him and carried on with her reading. Eventually this man sits back, silenced and unable to say a word. Then he decides to get off ranting what am i even doing on here. For a second i was strongly convinced someone would come with a camera to say this was all only a social experiment...you know one of those ones. Or maybe I was hoping it was that rather than this. When space was freed up next to me a muslim sister may Allah bless her came to sit next to me asking if I was okay etc! She said take care of yourself and looked worried, I said I am 100% okay but you dont look okay! She had a teary eye. I said dont worry, these kind of people need no reply. Thats what they want and it will give them more to say! What I learnt? Sometimes ignorance is the best of answer for foolish utterances. Sometimes silence is the most eloquent reply. Sometimes when you do not retaliate, those who would do so in a better way will do so for you. Sometimes Allah uses some non-muslims in our defence so dont write anyone off because they are non-muslim. They were kind and merciful but Allah jala waala is more merciful to us. So when you are placed in a difficult situation, think well of how to tackle it but no that He is the best disposer of affairs, sometimes speech can compound a situation so think well before you reply negative comments!!
