Some folks in our community are in need. Can you help? My parents have two dogs, Holly (lab mix) and Coco (chow mix), that they need to surrender due to medical conditions that have made it very difficult for my parents to physically and financially care for them. Both dogs are approximately 11 to 12 years old. My parents have had them since they were puppies. My mother was recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia and spinal deterioration that is causing too much pain for her to physically attend to Holly and Coco as they deserved. As you can imagine, it was a very difficult decision for my parents to decided to surrender Holly and Coco so it is very important that they are surrendered to a no kill shelter. Unfortunately, many no kill shelters will not take them due to their age. Second Chance was the only organization who would but they are full and have been for several months. Ive spoken to Sherry a number of times and she has my contact information on hand when something opens up but they thought I would have a better chance here. Both Holly and Coco are yard dogs, but have been house trained. They are very sweet and have never shown aggression toward people. Coco is more timid than Holly but a little patience will open her up. Both dogs do not have an illness ,however, due to age and cold weather both do suffer from arthritis/pain if in one position too long. Both Holly and Coco are up to date on shots and do take heartworm preventative every month. If needed, paperwork can be shown that they just recently received shots. Please let me know if Forgotten Tails could be of any help.
