Some very educated people, with some scientific basis, would make the claim that every human action is selfish to some degree. I am not necessarily disagreeing with this, since I do not have enough knowledge about the human decision-making process to be certain either way. While I would like to think that my desire to create a better world, for the philosophical that I have previously spelled out, is purely rational an altruistic, I cannot deny that I personally would benefit from a better world. For example given my personal circumstances, no strong attachments to friends or family, if society were to collapse, I would suffer. It is thus in my best interests that society NOT collapse, and I have to acknowledge that that understanding might affect my decision-making process.
