Staffs Police embarrasing themself running defective cars.... Thought Id drop them a quick line.... Good Evening sirs, Twice it has come to my attention that VX62 CVT, a vehicle in Burton on Trents fleet of response cars, has a defective rear o/s light. Please see below, two pictures, one of which was taken by myself as a passenger (23/10/2014) and one of which was posted on a social media site (06/11/2014). I would like to report this in as a responsible member of the public as I have noticed this twice over the course of two weeks!! and am mystified as to why, and how an impressionable and important vehicle, such as one of your police cars, can run with this defect. As the Police regularly issue warnings and points for these sort of defects, aswell as working alongside the DVSA in punishing irresponsible owners, I would like to suggest some form of Vehicle defect checking process, to save the embarrassment of this in future reference, but also for the officers, fellow citizens and my own safety. A defect procedure would be a suitable method seeing as most fleet of vans and HGV alike, are all responsible for said checks. This is merely only a suggestion, from my experience, for you to incorprate into any vehicle usage. I would hope as a fair and abiding citizen that the driver of said vehicle at the time, would also be eligable for any repercussions of driving a defective vehicle, be it as a civillian or a uniformed pulic servant. I do hope my e-mail reaches somebody who could enquire as to why the defect could remain unrectified for so long, and the responsibility to rectify this is delegated to the correct person to make this vehicle road worthy again as spotting this out on the road for a third time would be publically embarrasing for Staffordshire Police. Many thanks for your time and a courteous response would be appreciated. Jordan Stokes
