Stay Positive! Accelerate!!! The Angle of the shin dictates your ability to accelerate in a specific direction. A positive shin provides an improved body angle influencing better force production toward direction of travel. A common mistake is shared by both Sagital and Frontal Plane movement. During a static start and change of direction, a vertical shin pushes force upward, when applied into the ground. Proper shin position allows force produced to be used horizontally toward the direction of travel. This angle allows for a lower center of gravity creating better balance and change of direction opportunity because body mass is positioned closer to where force is produced. Watch @andymielefanzone21 create a positive shin angle in our four step acceleration/deceleration drill. @Ngluchowski5 demos a proper sled sprint. @c_4owler an aggressive side to side lateral shuffle step. All have a common theme: the direction they wish to go is preceded by a positive shin angle. Hint: Look at the lead leg.
