Still on the WORLD CUP: In June 2006, i attended a world cup match between Togo and South Korea at the Frankfurt Stadion(courtesy of the Institute of African Studies) . In those days, i had been in Germany for barely one year and if i say that the villager and the Kenyan in me was still intact, you should understand. So i took a tram right into the station just outside the stadium. On arrival, i made sure that i entered the right gate as per my ticket, but once inside, i thought i could sit anywhere of my liking...until the owner of the seat came and insisted that i move to my seat two rows below. I wondered what the difference was and why he could not just sit anywhere. He calmly told me that as per the ticketing, the seat is under his name and any acts of hooliganism or vandalism around that seat will be directly attributable to him and he doesnt want to take any chances, especially with CCTV cameras all over. Then i thought of Gor Mahia and Ingwe, and our city stadium, and calmly moved to my designated seat!
