Sunday Night 04-06-24: Message: Bro. Shexnayder -Matthew 4:1-11. The devils greatest weakness. In Matthew the scriptures say Jesus was led into the wilderness by the spirit. On the other gospels ot is written that he was drove into the wilderness by the spirit. Either way, you can either be led or drove into Gods will and plan. We all have to face the wilderness at some point where we will be also tempted. God wont always answer us in this wilderness as he wants us to look inwards for answers using what we have already been taught. Jesus is the answer and he will bring us through the wilderness. How can we think we wont be faced with these wildernesses if even Jesus had to face it. Jesus was weak and hungry and the tempter came at this time to face him. He first tried to place doubt in his mind because all it takes is a little doubt to get you to start questioning who we really are. He tempted him to produce a miracle if he really was the son of God. Jesus didnt need a miracle to know he was God and neither should we. When we dont have answers he is still God. Everything he has done in our past would be enough for us to praise him even if we never see another miracle. True apostolic believers dont need a miracle to believe; signs and wonders shall follow them. The tempter then challenged him to take a leap of faith. We cant take leaps of faith not ordained by God. We dont make leaps of faith until he gives the ok. God does r owe us anything so we cant take the leap on our own and expect God to answer the leap. We cannot temp the Lord. So the tempter took him to a high mountain and offered to give Jesus the glory he was destined to have without having to face the cross. The devil knew Gods future as he also knew, and he tried to temp him to to bypass the process and skip ahead. God knew the process was necessary and didnt let the easy way out tempt him. God said he woukdnt put on us more than we can bear. We always thought that meant troubles. But, that also means blessings too. When we dont get that blessing or answered prayer it may mean God is preventing something he knows you cant handle. So Jesus told the devil to get behind him and the devil had to flee. This showed that the devils greatest weakness is that he cant handle a long battle. All it took was three attempts and he had nothing left to tempt Jesus with. All we have to do is hold on to our faith and trust in God and the devil will fail.
