TODAY’S WORD: 27th August, 2013 Ephesians 5:25-26 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word. In Ephesians chapter 5 apostle Paul was giving a sermon concerning Christian conduct in marriage. In his sermon he advised both the husband and the wife concerning their roles as partners in marriage. He said for a marriage to really work, Jesus’ kind of love for the church should be in place; the kind of love that made Him give His life for the sake of the church not minding whether the church deserved that or not. John 1:11; He came unto his own, and his own received him not. Jesus came to His own people but they rejected Him yet He still went ahead to love them. This is the kind of love that can sustain the home, a love that will look beyond faults. Luke 23:34; Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. This was one of Jesus’ last words before He died and it shows the extent of the love He has for the church. For you to enjoy and leave in peace, love and harmony with your spouse you need to have this mind of Christ; a very large heart to forgive. Always assuming that the other person does not have full understanding of his or her actions will make you forgive easily. Today I pray that God will heal every hurting marriage in Jesus name. Pray with me: Oh Lord, help me to forgive just as I have been forgiven and help me to forget sorrows and pains caused me in Jesus name.
