Talking with Eric unpacking some of the themes in Interstellar, we realized that the tension between the physical and metaphysical forces in the movie leads to those very tensions causing rifts in the narrative itself. (If you havent seen the movie, you wont get what I mean). But what that means is that the very things people are calling plot holes may in fact be literary devices.
