Teenage Jesus and the Jerks, fronted by one of the coolest women - TopicsExpress

Teenage Jesus and the Jerks, fronted by one of the coolest women in rock, the then-16/17-year-old Lydia Lunch, spearheaded the late-70s No Wave scene in New York, a scene which sought to take punk even further away from its traditional CBGBs roots and into anarchic, chaotic dischord, sometimes even abandoning the concept of rock music altogether and experimenting with various other genres, including disco and funk. The Jerks were the most abrasive of the whole lot (at least until the crushingly slow and brutal Swans arrived in the early-80s). From the No New York compilation, compiled by none other than Brian Eno.
