Thank you Jeff Bryant: Right now, across America, there are millions of public school children underserved by increasingly dilapidated facilities, over-capacity classrooms, and fewer services for their special needs. Those like Mayor de Blasio who speak out for those children and act to bolster those “broken,” to use the Mayor’s words, schools are often derided as ideologues, zealots, even “evil.” But when self-avowed education “reformers” rail and gnash their teeth over the fate of charter schools that exist only on paper, while millions of underserved school children in the public schools we have here and now are subjected to increasingly decaying, decrepit conditions, who is being the real zealot?
