The 100 Club is to London what CBGBs was to New York City. A nightclub that was key to pivotal time in Rock Music during the late 70s Punk Rock phenomena. CBGBs closed its doors for good a few years ago. Not only is the 100 Club still an active scene, the very same Punk Rockers from 40 years ago can still be found milling around. Gone are most of the mohawks and ironic swastika armbands. Theyve been long replaced with beer guts and bald haircuts. Its anarchy on geriatrics. Im well aware that most of time people on this website are fond of sharing inspirational quotes. So allow me to elaborate. I was never any good on the football team. I never wanted to make the wrestling team. But if you put on a solid Rock concert in front of me Ill be in the pit doing the Monster Mash for an hour or two, and Ill comfortably walk away from the dance floor like I just received a Thai Massage. Its where Ive made my bones. Theres been plenty of times Ive wanted to walk away from it. There are no perceived rewards for beating the shit out of yourself on a saturday night yet there is still a tangible result. Ive never had to be anybodys mindless Yes Man in order to get physical. Its the reason I keep going back. What Ive learned form London is simple. For you see, you dont leave the pit because you get old. You get old because you leave the pit. Seniors hit hardest.
