The Federal Government says it is intervening in a court dispute involving Toyota and its workers. Toyota wants to vary clauses to reduce the Christmas shutdown period, require a doctors certificate for sick leave after two days, and take away some extra leave and payments. Earlier this week, Federal Industry Minister Ian Macfarlane said there is a high chance Toyota will stop making cars in Australia if changes are not made. In a speech to the Sydney Institute, Employment Minister Eric Abetz said workers should be allowed to vote on the proposed changes.
