The Forbes author assumes that agents are a commodity . It assumes that transactions are smooth without challenges. The author does not deal with landmines, snakes and grassfires. We need to remember that generally realtors get paid only on 25% of the people they work with. This means that a Realtor may work with 4 people and only get paid by one transaction. So the commission must be high to offset the free work given to 3 buyers. I contend that real estate brokers should offer both contingency fees and Non-contingency fees in a menu of compensation options. This helps to discern the intention and ability of a buyer to finalize a transaction. I agree with the author that the world has changes. We have the ability in most states to design a broker compensation plan which is fair to clients and gets the broker paid a good wage. houstonius.wpengine/?p=8072
