The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseini, continues to appear on the top ten challenged books list but has never been banned as such. The novel takes a complex political history and maps it into a story of friendship, betrayal and jealousy. Like To Kill a Mockingbird and Anne Franks Diary, it continues to appear as part of the secondary school English curriculum each year. Challenged books like these can take historic movements and confront students morals and ethics - what other confronting books are, or should be, included in the school curriculum?
